Last Week's Tasting
October 2, 2019
Classic Wines at Everyday Prices. People liked the crisp well defined precision of last week’s wines, but more than that their incredibly low wallet-friendly prices.
The most purchased were the mature Laurens River Bordeaux blend, well defined and smooth Cabernet Franc, and the razor crisp Sauvignon Blanc.
Oh, also the Olive Oil, a surprise favorite for many tasters.
The Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and linear, as much Loire-like as it is New World. The Cabernet Sauvignon is firm with light dusty tannins. The Cabernet Franc has a lithe delicacy that is more Bordeaux then Loire, with the same precision is the Cabernet.
The 2010 Laurens River Valley, a blend of half Cabernet Franc, a third Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit their dough, is extraordinarily finely sculpted wine for a very reasonable price. It has become a staple here since we first showed it last winter.
Their Extra Virgin Olive Oil is fine also. I have been enjoying the bottles I brought back with me. We have secured a small amount for the tasting.
