Wine Puzzles, Tasty Answers - The April Federal Case

There were two clear favorites...
April 6, 2022

The April Federal Case

There were two clear favoritess.

White: Almost all tasters thought that the rabbit that 'graces' the label of 2020 Domaine LeLievre Cotes de Toul Auxerrois was cute. However, they agreed that the wine inside was very acceptable, especially at its price. Juicy fruity, and many thought this clone of Pinot Blanc would be a great wine for the Easter table.

Red: The 2018 Ch de Roquebrune was almost universally considered acceptable, especially for the money likewise. It got better and better as the tasting went on. We suggest decanting an hour before serving to enjoy a very pleasurable companion for lamb or steak.

Scattered good comments for the others. Some liked the Saumur Chenin Blanc, which was fruitier and deeper than the rabbit. The Bandol Rose was very heavily ordered and would also be the ice compliment for Easter dinner. Some who didn't like Cabernet did find the city limits very appealing. The Allegrini Valpolicella was very well priced. It changed during the tasting at the beginning showing full dark fruit, but later on, showing more structure. Some people preferred the initial appearance, some the ladder chacun a son gout.
