From the Affordable to the Profound with Jeanne-Marie Deschamps

We were pleased to welcome back our old friend Jeanne-Marie Deschamps, an experienced wine broker in Burgundy. She represents some famous names but takes special pride in her smaller growers. She presented wines from both. And hinted that there might be one or three more. The last time she presented here, she was one of that year's best for both wine quality and information. This was an extraordinary event. Tasters came for the wines and her insights into where Burgundy is and where it's going.
2025 Regis Jouan Menetou Salon
In the Loire, just to the west of Sancerre, Menetou Salon is a good alternative to that wine. From the fine 2025 vintage, this wine is as fresh, joyful, and lively a Sauvignon Blanc as we have found at the price.
Aroma: lightly fragrant, green-apple plum, lightly accented with fresh lime; Mouth: strong on entry. Bright lime over a touch of grapefruit, fresh and long; Very Good Plus $29.95; Case, $25.49
2023 Pernot Belicard Bourgogne Cote d'Or
The merger of two estates has produced a young domain making powerfully intense, concentrated wines. The balance and precision of this wine certainly exceed its appellation. It's to drink now or over the next two to three years.
Aroma: steely young light oak, later fresh and intense with a strong acid core; Mouth: young, brimming with intensity, fine mineral, steely, lithesome, firm minerality, long; Very Good - Excellent $48; Case, $41
2021 Roger Lassarat Pouilly Fuisse Clos de France 1er Cru
A family run estate that dates from 1969. This is a prettier Pouilly than most, a delight that rewards attention.
Color: golden green; Aroma: fresh and rounded, ripe sweet, lightly integrated oak, seductive aromatic edge; Mouth: medium body, good center, delicately framed with lifted and seductive savory notes; Very Good -Excellent $53; Case, $45.
2021 Ch de la Maltroye Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Vigne Blanche
Alan Meadows, Burghound. Tasted just after bottling. More interesting are the rich and relatively full-bodied flavors that flash good power and muscularity on the impressively long, if slightly lean, finale. This may well flesh out with time in bottle and my rating offers the benefit of the doubt.
I tasted it last year and felt the time in the bottle had made it a very, very special wine.
Aroma: heady, elegant very fine, rich, oak-lined, mine acid, pretty lifted fine; Mouth: Clean firm, fine structure, very clean, sweet rich forward fruit, long, wood-lined finish; Excellent - Outstanding $159; Case, $136

2021 Anne Parent Bourgogne Selection Pomone
Anne Parent is based in Pommard and makes powerful, very concentrated, and well-structured wines from that appellation. This comes from a single vineyard in Pommard that is outside the appellation. It echoes the character of the commune at a much more affordable price
Color: very light; Aroma: light cedary, pretty spicy, light, fresh; Mouth: softly herbal, bright acid, rather firm, nutty, lifted and bright; Very Good Plus $75; Case, $64
2021 Meo- Camuzet Corton les Perrieres Grand Cru
Alan Meadows from barrel: "Mostly from the red side of the fruit spectrum, especially cherry and raspberry, along with pretty floral hints. There is excellent volume and punch to the medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle bead of minerality on the chiseled, compact, focused, and wonderfully persistent finale where a touch of austerity slowly emerges."
We will taste the finished wine after five years of age and a long decant; it will show the power and resonance of the fine coat-to-bone Grand Cru.
