2023 Gorgo Bianco di Custoza Organic
For grilled seafood, this savory blend of aromatic grapes, Malvasia, Trebbiano, Cortese, Garganega, and Tocai Friulano delivers a lot of flavor at a modest price.

A day and a half of skin contact gives this a firm underlying firmness that nicely balances its forward fruit—grilled fish.

2021 Giacomo Fenocchio Barbera D’Alba Superiore
For Italian marinades, spice and herb blends to grill your vegetables, beef, poultry, veal, or pork. This wine should be your go-to.
Aroma: Forward and balanced with tones of red cherries, raspberries, crushed rocks, leather, spice notes, roasted herbs, and some savory notes. Mouth: The wine's savory palate delivers ripe blackberry, nutmeg and licorice. Its medium body is deftly balanced with crisp, high acidity and silky, medium tannins. 2020 Negro Lorenzo Langhe Dolcetto
A Federal Favorite, this is Piedmont’s “everyday” red from a solid producer in Roero who constantly makes solid, wee-priced wines. It is very versatile and likable.
Color: Deep ruby, purple highlights. Juicy and earthy aromas and flavors with a touch of very pleasant bitterness in the finish with moderate tannin. Very Good Plus 19.99; Case, 16.99
The 2019 Tenuta Santa Maria Valpolicella Classico Ripasso has it all. It is made with Corvina, Rondinella, and Corvinone grapes from vineyards with exceptional terroir. The wine is intense, elegant, and complex in a perfectly balanced way. It is extremely versatile with food. It is also approachable now and will age well for many years.
Color: Vivid ruby red. Aromas and flavors of dark cherry, blueberry, licorice, cinnamon, and pepper. Velvet tannins with very balanced acidity and a long, dry finish with lingering fruity tones. People who enjoy the style of complete-bodied Pinot Noir should pay attention. Excellent $35, Case $29.99
2020 Tomei Veniero Cesanese: Organic, Biodynamic
It is Marco Tomei's passion to revive the ancient history of wine. He is in Sezze on the Appian Way near Rome, a village founded by Hercules.
Marco also planted a unique clone of Cesanese on his farm in Sezze. In other parts of Lazio, Cesanese gives fruit bombs. The growing conditions are perfect in Sezze, eight kilometers from the sea. Aged in terra cotta amphora and cement, the 2020 Tomei Veniero Cesanese is a refined and gorgeous wine. It is highly aromatic and lean in body with a strong acid tannic drive that will cut through any fattier pork or beef dish.
