BBQ II; The Italians
Peter writes, "One of the first tasters last week asked why these wines were good for a BBQ. I answered because they are Italian. And tasters agreed throughout that these are all great food wines.""

Peter continues,
We began with the 2014 Garofoli Verdicchio dei Castello di Jesi Podium. The wine showed a nice core of fruit and a citrus edge. Everyone approved. The 2009 Colombera Timorosso Il Montino was completely different. It was richer with prominent stone fruit, softer on the palate and still fresh.
We began the reds with the 2013 Buglioni Valpolicella Ripasso. This is a category of wine more and more people are discovering. The Buglioni is a great example of this richer style of Valpolicella. Some tasters said they would pair this with salmon and some said steak. It is that versatile. The wine is still young. Surprisingly, the 2016 G. D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo was the most forward of the reds. It is made deliberately to be a less powerful version of Nebbiolo yet still has all the telltale fruit, flower and spice.
We then moved to the brand new label from Felsina in Tuscany. The 2015 Pagliarese ChiantiClassico Riserva showed depth and richness and terrific balance. This level of Chianti was a new experience for some. Then we finished with an old favorite. The 2015 Le Terrazze Rosso Conero Riserva Sassi Neri was also rich and quite young. This wine always impresses people when they taste it and last week was no exception.
The comment we heard most often and everyone agreed was that all of these wines were very, very good.
