Len writes;

Two clear favorites last week: the Gueguen Chablis Cuvee 1975was the most loved white. People liked that its classic Chablis chalk nicely underlay a very pretty fruit. It's a great summer Chablis, light on both palate and wallet.

The Parize Givry stood out among the reds for its breadth, definition, and classic burgundian sauvage fruit. it was impressive without even showing its full potential. It had arrived a couple of weeks prior and it was still travel-sick and muted from the ocean swells of its trip compared with the bottles I had tasted from a previous shipment. Even so tasters found it impressive. I recommend it strongly, but you might wait another week or two for it to recover fully from its ocean voyage.

Tasters liked all the other wines also. Many people hadn't had the aligote grape and found the 2019 Marc Morey Bourgogne Aligoté's touch of wood pleasing mingled with the broad softness of the wine's fruit. The Manciat-Poncet Macon Charnay showed more ripely assertive and spicier than the other two whites.

Both the Perrachon Julienas and the Raquillet Mercurey were well-liked also,. Both showed softer and a bit more generous than the Givry. The Mercurey had arrived along with the Givry and like it was a little muted, but it still showed a nice broad wood-accented pinot fruit. Like the Julienas it makes for nice drinking in the short term and age nicely for a few years yet.

We just got the last few cases of Chablis. The other wines are still in good supply.
