Two Winemakers from Burgundy

Two Women from Burgundy

Veteran Burgundy wine broker Jeanne-Marie Deschamps works quietly behind the scenes but represents some of the finer estates of Burgundy, Meo Camuzet, and Lamarche. Paul Pernot, to name a couple. We have known her for years and found her reliable and a great source of information on what is happening in the region.

With pleasure and anticipation, we look forward to hosting her and one of her first woman winemakers, Anne Parent of Pommard’s Domaine Parent. Anne has sought to transmute what she calls the virile quality of Pommard fruit into something more nuanced and expressive without losing its richness. I have loved her wines in recent vintages.

They are bringing with them a couple of wines from Domaine Parent.

I liked Guy Charlemagne’s Champagnes from Les Mesnil, and especially Roger Lassarat’s excellent St. Veran les Cras. I have not yet tasted the others' current vintages, but Paul Pernot is among the top growers in Puligny, and Gerard Tremblay always makes a reliable Chablis.

2019 Parent Pommard Croix Blanches Alan Meadows discreet wood sets off pretty, ripe, and fresh aromas of various red berries that are cut with floral and warm earth hints.
