Rocca di Castagnoli 2015 Chianti Classico
Getting High in Gaiole
May 7, 2019
Every year in Tuscany, Angelo Dalbello welcomes me to Rocca di Castagnoli which is a very high elevation site in Gaiole in Chianti. We always have dinner at Il Celliere di Castagnoli which is, in my opinion, one of the best restaurants in Italy. The first red wine we usually have is the Chianti Classico.
Today’s offer is for the 2015 Rocca di Castagnoli Chianti Classico. This is a layered and textured wine. It is amazing for the price and will also age well.
The property dates back to the 1700s and is still family owned. There is great respect for tradition here and also a passion to always work to find even better ways to let the wines express a sense of place.
If you already love great Chianti, you should know about this one. If you want to learn about Chianti, start here.
2015 Rocca di Castagnoli Chianti Classico: Ruby red. Aromas and flavors of deep cherry, olive blossom and spice. Fine layered texture which recharges every sip. Very balanced finish. Very Good Plus to Excellent 21/bottle
Special case: 12 bottles of the above for a special price of $214
