2017 Vigne Guadagno Fiano di Avellino
High-altitude vineyards make fragrant Fiano.
Aroma: notes of lychee orchard fruit, with fine touches of citrus and a hint of lemongrass. Mouth: quince, lychee, light notes of apple and peach with a stony minerality, and fresh citrus. Fine varietal touches of balanced acidity, fresh spices, and herbs reminiscent of green tea. Good length and a refreshing finish. 2018 Burklin-Wolf Wachenheimer R Riesling Trocken
is a benchmark dry Pfalz Riesling. It's a blend of the estate’s "premier cru" vineyards that did not go into vineyard-specific bottlings. It stood out from other wines in a mass tasting for its power and intensity. Fully dry, it's ripe enough for the fruit to round out the acidity.
Nose white flowers, orange blossom, light petrol, tropical fruit, apple, lemon, lime.
Mouth good concentration. Ripe stone fruits, hints of flowers. Great tension, strong acid core, gets better with air. Very Good – Excellent $33, Case $27.99

2015 Cantine Garofoli Grosso Agontano Conero Riserva
This is the top wine of the estate in the Marche region on central Italy's Adriatic coast. It vineayrd'svineayrd's climate and clay soil are ideal for the Montepulciano grape. The "Grosso Agontano" Riserva is the estate's top wine. After a long maceration for color and tannins, the wine is aged in oak barrels for about 18 months to ensure a harmonious evolution and a broad and persistent aromatic bouquet.
Aroma: ripe red fruits like sour cherries and plums, spicy notes of vanilla, tobacco, and a subtle hint of cocoa. Mouth: The wine displays a strong personality with well-integrated tannins and polished structure. 2021 Giacomo Fennoccio Barbera d'Alba Superiore
A couple of months ago, we were graced with a visit from Claudio Fenocchio, the fifth generation of a family who make a lovely range of Piemontese wine. His wines are at the same time vivacious and supple, as pleasing to the tongue as they are true to their origin. His Barbera d'Albad'Alba Superiore is perfect for the grill. It has enough zing to stand up to fatty or intensely marinated foods but has enough rounded fruit to coat the palate.

2021 Domaine Piaugier Sablet La Syrah de Marine
One of the favorites in our tasting of the Piaugier estate has finally arrived. A pure Syrah unusual in the Southern Rhone, it has body and depth to meet the heartiest red meats. Decant to drink now (we will before the tasting), it will improve in the cellar for years
Color: very dark, deep full; Aroma: reserved to start, it later opens to fragrant, flowery white pepper spice; Mouth: clean, lightly spicy, very nice cut and intensity, good drive. Drink now with decanting or cellar; Very Good Plus $26.99; Case, $22.99
