G Love is an ode to the art of the barrel, highlighting the interplay between barrel and spirit. Most bourbon warehouses are heavily heated during cold months to maintain consistent temperatures to regulate extraction in the barrels. As an experiment, Old Forester foregoes heating their G warehouse. This variation allows the fluctuation of temperature through the seasons to age the bourbon More slowly and in unique ways, allowing the wood to influence the whiskey in a more natural, organic way.
Notes: This is a big dog where you get the advantage of big flavor. The nose has a blend of Coca Cola, peanut butter, and strong wood spice. The cola flavor continues into the palate along with a full mouthfeel. The finish shows more of the peanut butter. This is a well-constructed bourbon as evidenced by a subtle heat. This is one of those bourbons where you’d better respect the big proof as the juice goes down easily. If you are scotch drinker, it takes water well as Joe would say. If not, sipping with an ice cube gently melts the heat and brings forth new layers of flavor. 66.8 abv
