Great and Authentic
Tornatore Pietrarizzo 2020 Etna Bianco + 2019 Etna Rosso

Mount Etna’s Tornatore winery has a long history of producing great authentic wines. The winery was built in 1865 in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia. Along the way, family members were recruited to become Lands Registry Makers. They studied the land and set the boundaries for the individual sections called Contrada. They bought some of the finest vineyards high up on the north-facing slopes of Mount Etna. One of these is the Pietrarizzo Contrada.
The 2020 Tornatore Etna Bianco Pietrarizzo is made with Carricante, the noble white grape of Etna. It is a bright deep, and complex white that’s beautiful now and will age well for years. The 2019 Tornatore Etna Rosso Pietrarizzo shows the subtle complexity we find in wines made with the noble Nerello Mascalese grape.
Tornatore is still family owned and run. The farming is sustainable, and the estate has great biodiversity. Here at Etna, we get top-level wine for a surprisingly mid-level price. The quality is enhanced by the cool, very high-elevation vineyards, the lava soils, and the long growing season.

2020 Tornatore Etna Bianco Pietrarizzo: Bright straw. Aromas and flavors of melon and pear fruit accented by a fresh mineral herb note and beautiful flowers. Complex saline finish. Excellent 42/bottle (By the case 35.70/bottle)
2019 Tornatore Etna Rosso Pietrarizzo: Bright ruby. Aromas and flavors of cherry, roses, and balsam. Complex mid palate with great minerality. Very well-balanced finish with spice. Excellent 48/bottle (By the case 40.80/bottle)
