Bordeaux

Along with our extensive champagne sale we are offering sale pricing on our in stock 2020 Bordeaux, before possible post-tariff price increases. Some are in OWC cases of six or 12.

2020 is considered the best of the three highly touted vintages 2018, 2019, and 2020 with incredibly consistent quality from commune to commune. I have a preference for the Left Bank while St. Emilion and Pomerol are both starting to show the complexity and length everyone was expecting. Many of these can be drunk in their youth but will age for years.

SAINT EMILION

Chateau Villemaurine-Grand Cru

Already a hit en primeur, this wine confirms that they are on the right track. Delicately scented, expressive, fresh and spicy, raspberries and floral tones, very nice nose. Top balance on the palate, round, accessible, with melting and so much charm that you want to swallow right away, medium-strong, very clean and with a long, spicy finish, this is a perfect wine for gastronomy: fair in price, accessible and with a high, quality level. 2025-2040. Adrian van Velsen, Vinum 15 btls. Reg. Price $62 Holiday Special $52

Chateau Monbousquet-Grand Cru “Black cherries, black plums, espresso, smoke, licorice, and a touch of cocoa form the aromatic profile. The wine is lush, polished, sweet and fresh with polished- tannins and a vibrant, refined finish with a mild savory, minty, fresh note in the background in the finish. The reduction in the amount of new oak, which is now 50%, really helps with the freshness, texture and fruits here. This is a top vintage for Monbousquet that will be enjoyable in its youth, yet age for up to 2 decades as well. Drink from 2023- 2040” Jeff Leve 1/6pk OWC Reg $425 Holiday Special $342

Chateau La Dominique-Grand Cru Sleek dark cocoa bean, liqourice, violet, cassis, damson and black cherry fruit, with succulent edges of grilled cedar and tobacco. This is a great wine in the vintage, one of the real stars of St Emilion. Tasted twice, thoroughly impressed with the quality, texture, weight and lift of this wine.”-Jane Anson 3/6pks OWC Reg $445 Holiday Special $360/6pk—4 single btl. Reg $89 Holiday Special $70/btl.

Chateau Grand Mayne-Grand Cru “The complex nose, with its array of flowers, espresso, black cherries, black raspberries and black plums wide a side of mint focuses you on the glass. But it is on the palate, with its freshness, silky tannins and layers of mineral-edged, vibrant, sweet, fruits with their closing notes of plums, and salty, dark chocolate that seals the deal. This could be the best vintage of Grand Mayne ever produced! Drink from 2025-2050.” Jeff Leve 12 bottles Reg $64 Holiday Special $52

Chateau Valandraud-Premier Grand Cru “Juicy, perfectly judged, delicious brambled fruits, this is exuberant without being overdone, just oozing with pleasure, inviting you to come on board. Expect waves of liqourice, powerful damson brambled jam, lime blossom, orange peel marmalade and saffron. This needs a good five more years (2028) in bottle before approaching, but you want this in your cellar.” Jane Anson 8 btls. Reg $215 Holiday Special $180

Chateau Clos Cantenac-Grand Cru « Inky dark colour with a purple hue. Ripe and pure nose displaying cassis, dark plum, blackberry, fine oak and tobacco notes. The palate is dense and concentrated with a ripe texture and fine grain with gentle oak, layers of dark fruit and a long muscular finish.” Andreas Larson 6 btls Reg $58 Holiday Special $52 or 6 btl. OWC $282 ($47 btl)

POMEROL

Chateau Maillet

“The nose is fruity and spicy with a finely tight grain and a certain depth. There are notes of wild blackberries, small ripe wild berries and more lightly grey pepper combined with touches of star anise, spices and crushed red berries as well as discreet hints of sweet blond tobacco and lily. The palate is mineral with fat and smoothness. There is an airy side like a positive lightness in its material that offers a stretched side. The tangy structure has notes of juicy, pulpy blackberries, crushed blackcurrant and more lightly luscious blue plums combined with a touch of crushed cherry, fresh flowers as well as a hint of fresh blond tobacco and spices. The tannins are supple, there is a nice minerality and freshness.” Verte de Vin 11 btls. Reg $55 Holiday Special $43 Also 24 half bottles $24,99 Special 21.99

Chateau Vray Croix de Gay “ this has depth, character and energy, the tannins are fairly controlling at this point, but there is vibrant black fruit underneath. Full of charm and interest, with a seductive floral edge unrolling as it opens in the glass.” Jane Anson 12 btls Reg $95 Holiday Special $80

Chateau Nenin “On the nose deep, feminine, very floral, a mix of dark and red berries, some menthol on top, fine spice. Strong, very powerful, concentrated at the beginning, not cumbersome, but elegant, expands mightily, becomes more and more full-bodied, a striking tannin structure keeps the opulent fruit in check, high tannin quality, fine acidity. The finish has great length and a mineral-salty finish. This is an excellent and perhaps the best Nenin I have tasted so far, strong, full-bodied, rich in finesse, bravo! 2026-2044” Adrian van Velsen, Vinum 9 btls Reg $95 Holiday Special $80

Chateau Seraphine “In just a few short years, the 2.2ha Séraphine has become an essential name in Pomerol, and it’s delivering beautiful appellation character in 2020. Creamy damson and black cherry fruits, cocoa bean, spiced red pepper, cigar box and incense. Has settled in over ageing, with luscious tannins and plenty of grip, will improve further over the next few years in bottle. 40% new oak, with a small section in clay amphora” Jane Anson 8/6pk OWC Reg $849 Holiday Special $799($133) 16 btls Reg $169 Holiday Special $145

SAINT JULIEN

Chateau Gloria

“Showing even better in the bottle than it did in the barrel, this is a stunning vintage for Gloria which kicks off with a gorgeous display of flowers, currants, espresso, tobacco and cedar. The wine is medium-bodied, with ample layers of fresh, vibrant red and black fruits, soft tannins and a savory edge to the elegant, supple finish. If you have not tasted Gloria for a while, this is a great place to start as it competes with many Classified Growths today. Drink from 2025-2045”. Jeff Leve 12 btls--Reg $68 Holiday Special $52

Chateau Lagrange “The perfume kicks off with mint, cigar box, black and red currants, black cherries and tobacco leaves. And with all that, the wine is just getting started because it is even better on the palate with its multiple-layers of supple, fresh, vibrant, sweet, ripe fruits, elegant silky tannins, length and purity. Starting with the 2016 vintage, Lagrange has been on a hot streak and 2020 could be their best vintage yet. If you haven't tasted what they are doing, you need to grab a bottle and pull a cork!” Drink from 2027-2055.” Jeff Leve 20 btls--Reg $79 Holiday Special $64

Chateau Leoville Las Cases “Beguiling nose, deep and super complex, I smell dark fruit, cassis, blackberry, then cedars, dried herbs, violets, licorice, a poem. On the palate powerful, straightforward, very taut, immensely concentrated, but highly elegant, expands more and more, fills the palate, the fruit is immensely crisp, ripened to the point, the tannins are of the highest quality, only make themselves noticeable in the back palate, indicate that this wine has enormous reserve and yet you want to swallow it now. Eternally long finish. Here everything sits in its place, a Las Cases, as if chiseled out of the stone. Great cinema and certainly one of the best wines of the year. 2026-2055”+” Adrian van Velsen, Vinum 8 btls---Reg $310 Holiday Special $270

PAUILLAC

Chateau D’Armailhac

“Great purity and intensity, très Cabernet and très Pauillac with violet, crème de cassis, ripe dark fruit, fine spices, very mild oak underneath. The palate is sapid and fluid with great density, grainy fine tannin, a good sense of freshness both in terms of acidity and tannin with a long pure finish. Andreas Larsen 14 btls---Reg $69 Holiday Special $58

Chateau Lynch Bages A superb Lynch Bages that grabs you and carries you through the palate, slowly edging forward. Poised with a ton of slate and pencil lead on the finish, this is pure Pauillac, just so precise and full of character, so much grip, it’s classic with a mouthwatering finish, feels profound but thoroughly approachable. 75% new oak, 3.73ph” Jane Anson 19 btls---Reg $185 Holiday Special $150

2020 Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron “What a fragrance, hard to beat in complexity; Smoke, blackcurrant, peppermint, eucalyptus, floral tones; Compact and very powerful on the palate, masses of the finest tannins, already well packaged, of course this wine is still youthful, but already shows a great balance. Monumental length. Ventilate and enjoy in 2024, optimal probably from 2028-2050+”--Adrian van Velsen, Vinum 5 btls—Reg $220 Holiday Special $190

SAINT ESTEPHE

Chateau Cos D’Estournel

A gorgeous, stylish wine, here you find a series of waves packed with blackberries, black plums, black cherries, smoke, licorice, dark chocolate, soy and an array of spices. Rich, deep and intense, the wine hits all the right notes as it melds power, fruit, freshness and elegance to create an opulent, velvety, silky finish that builds and expands as it hangs with you. This is so good now, it will be hard to wait to pull a cork. But its best days are all in the future. So, wait a bit and you will be amply rewarded with an incredible wine. Drink from 2028-2060.” Jeff Leve 3/6pk OWC—Reg. $1550 ($258) Holiday Special $1440 ($240) 3 btls Reg $320 Holiday Special $265

MARGAUX

Chateau D’Issan

“ stunningly good Margaux, …. it's a selection of just 45% of the total production. Beautiful, spiced-laced red and black fruits, chocolate, smoked tobacco, and incense notes define the aromatics. These carry to a medium to full-bodied restrained, elegant 2020 with terrific mid-palate density, ripe, velvety tannins, and terrific overall balance. This is one of those beautiful, classic wines that grows on you with time in the glass, and hats off to Emmanuel Cruse for yet another incredible wine. It's going to evolve for another 25-30 years if well-stored. Best After 2026.” Jeb Dunnick 6 btls Reg $85 Holiday Special $74

Chateau Palmer “An irresistible wine .. sumptuous and voluptuous, open and appealing yet with all the elements so very carefully set in their place. Rich and evocative on the nose, dark and brooding with softly perfumed violet and rose aromas but it’s the texture that captivates on the palate with soft and seductive velvety tannins that immediately expand in the mouth giving power but also refinement. Mouthwatering and juicy but rich at the same time, so approachable you could drink this right now and just marvel in its nuance, structure and ease - and the oak integration is seamless. I love the liquorice bite and chalky sensation alongside vibrant black fruit though a sense of heat and menthol, liquorice freshness at the finish reminds you this is a serious wine that is built to last. This really carries the Margaux beauty and charm. A long life ahead but once opened this will disappear out of the bottle instantaneously. Decanter
