Ch Meursault Bourgogne Blanc Clos Du Chateau 2022 in Tasting

Burghound-Outstanding - Notes of petrol, white orchard fruit and citrus rind are complemented by rich, concentrated and seductively textured flavors that deliver solid depth and persistence on the balanced finale. This is supple and forward and a wine that should drink well basically upon release.

Burgundy

Two from de Vogue’s former winemaker

2021 Millet & Fils Chambolle Musigny Les Foucheres

Burghound- This is also aromatically perfumed with its elegant and airy aromas of red currant, cherry and a hint of exotic tea. Once again, the medium-bodied flavors possess the same lovely texture though with more evident minerality as well as a sense of focused power on the impressively complex, balanced and lingering finish. This is an excellent villages and also recommended.

2022 Millet & Fils Fixin en L'Olivier

Burghound-Tasting note: A beautifully layered nose mixes both red and blue pinot fruit, the sauvage, forest floor and a hint of wood. Once again, the borderline delicate medium-bodied flavors possess a beguilingly sleek texture while delivering excellent depth and persistence for a villages-level wine. Lovely.

Chanson Beaune Clos Feves 2021

Burghound-This is also exceptionally pretty and perfumed with a slightly more deeply pitched nose that features notes of lilac, plum, violet and newly turned earth. There is excellent volume to the muscular and powerful medium-bodied flavors that deliver good if not genuinely special persistence on the overtly austere and complex if slightly lean finish. I suspect that this will successfully age out but it won't be right away.

Montille Volnay Les Taillepieds 2021

Vinous- a touch of reduction on the nose, but it does not occlude the complex red berry fruit, crushed stone or shucked oyster shell scents that develop in the glass. Very nuanced and focused. The palate is well balanced with a patina of oak, though it is simpatico with the fruit. Beautifully balanced with a wonderfully sapid finish, this evinces clever winemaking. One of the best wines in the flight of Volnays.

2024 Florence Cholet Puligny Montrachet in Tasting

Always one of the less expensive Pulignys makes it our customer favorite Pulignys. There is Enseignieres in the blend this year.-

2016 Comtesse de Cherisey Puligny Montrachet Hameau De Blagny 1er Cru

Jancis Roboinson-Barrel fermented, 10% new. This has the same citrus freshness as the Meursault village wine plus a delicate note of oak spice and more breadth on the palate. Very primary but the fruit and the acidity are in great balance for a long life

Italy

Gaja Barbaresco Costa Russi 2021

-The nose is filled with dark fruits, particularly black cherry, intertwined with layers of fresh and compote blueberries, accompanied by a medley of savory spices. Dried roses and mountain herbs give lift and contrast on the nose. Bursty with a viciousness, crushed tart red fruits enliven the palate, while the wine's rich and giving nature is balanced by a regal tannic structure. Savory notes emerge on the finish as the classic Nebbiolo lift keeps the palate refreshed and primed.

Ca Rome Barbaresco Chiaramonti 2018

Wine Advocate-Romano Marengo's Ca’ Rome’ 2018 Barbaresco Chiaramanti reveals a textured and soft approach with some ripe fruit and blackberry backed by spice and tarry smoke. The thick fiber of this mid-weight wine cedes to integrated tannins and rich fruit concentration.

Ca Rome Barbaresco Rio Sardo 2018

Spectator-Bright floral, cherry, raspberry, spice and menthol flavors highlight this supple Barbaresco. Vibrant and harmonious, this is accessible enough to enjoy now, but will be better in a year or two. Excellent length. Best from 2023 through 2035. 150 cases imported.

Luce Sangiovese/Merlot 2022

-A dark and complex wine with aromas of bramble fruit, graphite and minerals. Full-bodied, it shows huge extraction and supple fruit concentration. Firm tannins with a stern but good finish.

Siro Pacenti Brunello Montalcino VV 2020

Wine Advocate-Made with fruit from the estate's oldest vines and aged in French barrique, the Siro Pacenti 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne has a spicy note with cardamom or cinnamon over a bold bouquet that is darkly enriched with all kinds of black and purple fruits. You get a hint of eucalyptus or rosemary that underlines a medicinal side to this wine. To the palate, this vintage is slightly more accessible for sure, but the house style prizes concentration and bold tannic structure that will give you runway for aging. There is a hint of dustiness or chalkiness on the tannins.

Ashes & Diamonds Saffron Mtn Cuvee 2022 in Tasting

Wine Advocate-A blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc, comes off a single vineyard on Mount Veeder. Slightly light in hue, it offers up hints of strawberries, raspberries and mountain herbs on the nose, followed by a medium-bodied palate that is silky in texture and more about finesse than power on the lingering, rosehip-tinged finish. It's a solid value, so long as you're looking for elegance, not power.

2022 Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir Oregon Zena Crown

Vinous-wafts with a spicy mix of peppery florals, cedar shavings and dried black cherries. Both savory and sweet, it shows chalky mineral tones and nuances of tart citrus and sour cherries. The finish is medium in length

Patz & Hall Pinot Noir Pisoni 2021 in Tasting

-This is a very ripe but clean and enjoyable style of Pinot Noir from an iconic site, starting with aromas of black cherry and blueberry that stay fresh. The palate's cherry-cola core is lifted by mint, finishing on a vanilla ice cream kick.

Ramey Chard Woolsey Road 2022 in Tasting

Wine Advocate-The 2022 Chardonnay Woolsey Road Vineyard comes from Wente selection vines planted in 2007 by the Martinelli family. The grapes were harvested before the Labor Day heat wave on August 17, and the wine was barrel-fermented. It underwent full malolactic conversion and was matured for 20 months in 20% new French oak barrels. It has slowly unfolding scents of honey, orange blossom, crème brûlée and matchstick. The palate is taut and energetic, with focused acidity and slowly opening stone fruit flavors. As it warms in the glass, it reveals exuberant tropical and honey tones, and it has a tremendously long finish driven by its luxurious, mouth-coating texture.
