Corail Rose

Raimond de Villeneuve is one of Provencal’s master winemakers. His biodynamic  Rose Corail (French for coral) has been our most popular Provencal rose for years.

Noted French wine critic Michel Bettane called him "incontestably, one of the great hopes of the Cotes de Provence...the wines perfectly combine ample and intense fruit with a rich and silky body. The wines of Roquefort possess a hedonic character that will make you immediately rejoice.

His Corail has not given in to the modern diaphanous style and proudly proclaims its color with its elegant ochre sheen. It expresses the character of its wild terroir, the Sainte-Baume plateau's stony minerality, and the high-altitude vines' freshness. Raimond de Villeneuve is a meticulous hedonist who works in an elegant but informal style. Everyone will like this wine. It's a model of blending and vinification. The red grapes (syrah, grenache, carignan, and mourvèdre) give texture and fruit; clairette and rolle [vermentino] florality and vivacity. Together, they combine complexity and delicacy. The finish is long, peppery, well-balanced, and crisp.

Northern exposure and the estate's high altitude make for cooler nights and an extended growing season, giving the wine's freshness embedded in rich, full, and rounded fruit. Combined with the delicately astringent structure of Provencal roses, it is a good partner for various warmer weather dishes, even bouillabaisse. You can drink this with grilled fish and almost any chicken or a lightly dressed salad.
