2022 Beau Vigne Heritage Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa -Style Class & Substance Above Price
April 14, 2025

This is one of the best values in Napa-quality cabernet that we have tasted of late.
The Beau Vigne winery was founded in 2002 and has had some renowned winemakers, including Dave Phinney and Kirk Venge.
For the last five years or so, Julien Fayard has crafted the wines. He has an impressive resume. From his family’s winery in Provence, he studied in Toulouse. Then, in Bordeaux, he worked at Lafite Rothschild and Smith Haut Laffite before relocating to Napa Valley, where he consulted for some of Napa’s most prestigious names as director of winemaking for the renowned Philippe Melka.
We were just offered an allocation of their 2022 Beau Vigne Heritage North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. Julien has blended wines from vineyards in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake counties into a wine with the feel of a lighter-to-medium-bodied Napa cab with the poise and structure of a Bordeaux Cru Bourgeois.
It is nearly all cabernet with small amounts of Malbec and Merlot. It spent 16 months in 100% French oak. It is as smooth as Caymus but with less obtrusive oak. It has a good depth of juicy fruit with a light underlying structure. It gets better with air and finishes dry.
The winery’s website lists it for a higher price, but we offer it for just $23.99, or $18.99 per bottle when purchased by the case- a genuine bargain.
We scrutinize gift horses in the mouth. This passed our taste test with flying colors.
What makes it special; Class and substance well above its price.
2022 Beau Vigne Cabernet Sauvignon; Aroma: light and fresh, herbal notes more pronounced than most, smooth with hints of cacao and black cherry; Mouth: clean, light on the attack, smooth with a Napa-French style, sweet currant fruit, and fine tannins leading to a long finish; Very Good Plus, Highly Recommended
$ 23.99; Case price: $18.99
