2022 BORDEAUX

NOW ARRIVING

2022 could be one of the best of the fine Bordeaux vintages of the last decade. The wines have the layered richness of warmer vintages combined with a structure of the classic vintages of the past. The best will last for decades. Some smaller estates made some of their best wines ever. They deserve to be in any collector's cellar.

Politics creates issues regarding pricing and availability. Many negociants are shipping 2022s early to avoid possible tariffs. We are receiving over 200 cases of 2022s with no place to store them. Thus, we are offering the remainder at the same prices as our original en Primeur offer. First come, first served

2022 Ch Lascombes

2022 Chevalier de Lascombes

Plus 2010 Ch Lascombes

direct from the Margaux Chateau

Last week, we tasted the finished wines from Ch. Lascombes and their 2010, in a fantastic event with their new winemaker Axel Heinz (ex Ornellaia and Massetto). They are exemplars of the best qualities of the vintage. Testimony to Axel's tasting acumen, rigorous selection, and blending skills they showed much better than critics' notes on the en primeur cask samples.

Thanks to the chateau's new ownership's direct sale, we can offer the 2022 Grand Vin at less than our original futures price and the Chevalier at an excellent price.

2022 Ch. Lascombes

Sumptuous, young fruit and fine underlying structure now obscure a promising whisper of the delicacy that is the hallmark of Margaux. Appealing now, it will age for ten to 20 years.

Color: Very dark purple; Aroma: a starting impression of sweet oak dissipates to reveal a heady, rounded, savory, firmly cabernet-accented, later savory, black fruit; Mouth: Fine acid tight, lithe and finely delineated, elegant, with an elusive lacey filigree enmeshed in substantial savory fruit, long; Excellent $83 Net

2022 Chevalier de Lascombes

With more Merlot, the Chevalier is nicely rounded, its ample fruit in good tension with a graphite-tinged edge. It drinks well now or over the next few years.

Color: Very dark purple; Aroma: Heady, relatively dense, savory, nicely concentrated, a graphite note; Mouth: Clean, light rounded acid, fine-grained tannins on the finish, good mid mouth, soft textured; Very Good - Excellent $35 Net

2010 Ch. Lascombes

This shone mature and complex, with a 2010's classic spine. Not a heavyweight it had just the right amount of fruit to counterbalance its structure, and a hint of tertiary bottle age. It will drink well for at least another ten years.

Color: Rather deep, very full; Aroma: Deep, very full, fat, firm, clean fine acid, nice delineation, heady with a Lightly herbal accent; Mouth: medium-bodied, clean, racy fine acidity. Spicy, tight, long, good grip, fine acid, generous fruity soft power more than weight; Excellent - Outstanding $149 Case, $127
