Dauvissat Forest Label

Vincent Dauvissat describes his 2018 Chablis as a mix in the style of 1947 and 1959, both very warm vintages that made for ripe opulent wines, which drank well young and aged surprisingly well.  Both became known a great Chablis vintages

We just got in a small allocation of 2018s. Tasting notes below are from Alan Meadows, Burghound:

Chablis

“A ripe and wonderfully fresh nose also flashes plenty of classic Chablis character on the white-fleshed fruit and floral nose where background notes of iodine and oyster shell are present. The sleek, delicious and vibrant medium weight flavors exude evident minerality on the clean, dry and balanced finale. This is a quality Chablis villages.  $69 Net

Chablis La Forest 1er Cru

this is overtly floral in character on the lightly spiced nose that displays additional aromas of mineral reduction, iodine, lemon peel and pear. There is a really lovely sense of verve suffusing the powerful yet reasonably refined larger-scaled flavors that culminate in an almost chewy finish thanks to the abundance of sappy dry extract. This isn't as refined as the Montée de Tonnerre but it's just as complex and persistent.  $115 Net

Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru

An admirably pure nose offers up aromas of various white-fleshed fruit, mineral reduction and lemon rind. There is a bit more volume and richness to the caressing yet punchy and powerful flavors that brim with minerality that carries over to the tension-filled, dry and balanced finale. This is presently quite firm and a wine that should amply reward extended keeping.  $120 Net

Chablis Preuses Grand Cru

A wonderfully broad-ranging nose is composed by restrained aromas of mineral reduction, floral, pear, apple and iodine scents. As is usually the case this is notably finer if less powerful, indeed the mouth feel of the cool middle weight flavors is almost delicate though this texture contrasts considerably with the lingering and strikingly complex finish that is, like the La Forest, almost chewy. This is one of the wines of the vintage though note well that patience will be required. $199 Net bottles only
