2018 Fattoria Nanni Verdicchio Origini
Buy a Great White Wine for the Better Weather Coming
March 22, 2022
The Marche region in central Italy on the Adriatic Sea is historically famous as an area of great white wine. Verdicchio's the grape variety, and its wines are known for their particular flavor and aroma characteristics. The best are complex and age-worthy. We have one of those in today's offer.
The 2018 Fattoria Nanni Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Origini starts with fresh lemon and stone fruit and has a brilliant texture. The estate was founded in the 1960s and was farmed organically from the beginning. Current owner Roberto Cantori does the same thing. He is very passionate about expressing the land where he lives in his wines.
The property is a natural amphitheater with Monte San Vicino to the east and Monte Conero to the north. The vines are over 50 years old on calcareous and limestone soils. The combination of layered fruit, mineral, herbs, and bright acidity display a rare complexity. I would put this one on the same table as a great Premier Cru Chablis. Just ready to drink now, this one will age well for at least ten years.
2018 Fattoria Nanni Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Origini: Bright straw. Lemon, apple, and pear combine with white flowers and white pepper. Mineral, herbal acidity provides great balance. Notes of almond in the long finish. Excellent 27.99/bottle
Special case: 12 bottles of the above for a special price of $287.88 (23.99/bottle)
Wine will arrive late next week
