2016 Muga Rioja Reservao
April 28, 2021
Bodegas Muga is one of the most famous and top wineries in La Rioja Alta Spain. Muga was founded in 1932 in the Haro district. They are known for being extremely traditional and at the same time for their cutting-edge techniques. Over the years the decisions they have made lead to better and better quality wines. Muga wines get unanimous high praise among wine writers,
The 2016 Muga Rioja Reserva continues this path of ridiculously good and ridiculously great value wine. It is made organically from high-altitude old vines. The grapes are mostly Tempranillo with a few other natives blended in. Muga's on-site cooperage fabricates all their own oak barrels. The barrel sizes, age and length of service are tailored to each specific wine.
We should mention the winery is still owned and run by the Muga family. They are really nice people. We join them in offering this vintage at a special reduced price.
