G D Vajra is an estate in Piedmont. The wines are great. It is family owned and run together by all of the current family members. Back in the 1960s, Aldo Vajra revived the property and began farming organically. When the new winery was built it was accented by beautiful and artistic stained glass windows. They own the highest elevation vineyards in Barolo. Today’s offer is for the best value Barolo on the market.
The 2016 G D Vajra Barolo Albe is a blend of 3 different vineyards. Each is at a different exposure and elevation so sunrise occurs at three different times every day. Everybody says that 2016 is a perfect Barolo vintage. The grapes were harvested in perfect condition and ripeness and aged in large Slavonian oak for three years.
You can drink this wine now and it has plenty of tannic structure to age for another fifteen years. Try it with Porcini Risotto.
2016 G D Vajra Barolo Albe: Bright ruby. Balsamic wild cherry, crushed stone, violets. Bright fleshy texture, long finish with notes of chalk and menthol. Excellent 42/bottle

Special case: 12 bottles of the above for a special price of $432 (36/bottle)
