Exciting was many people's reaction to the tasting, for the wines, certainly, but also for importer Kaden Chaffee. His commenrtary was both enlightening and impassioned., up to the exceptional quality of the wines.
The wines showed that they had been made with passion, that and care. In different styles, they all had both intensity and precision.
There were two, no three no four favorites. That there were so many testified to how good the wines were.
White
Everybody loved the 2022 Chiara Ciavolich Aries Pecorino . an overwhelming favorite. The Pecorino grape from Abruzzo was a revelation to some. Weighty, mouth-filling and rich, it had an exotic spice akin to that high-class Viognier that expressed itself with a uniquely Italian savory acid punch. Highly recommended

2022 Valfaccenda Bislacco A Piemontese blend of Cortese (The grape of Gavi) and arnesis, was reserved but perfectly poised, pure and smooth on the palate.; Color: very pale very light; Aroma: very light and pretty elegant, fresh; Mouth: clean light fine acid firm, structured, light; Very Good Plus $24.99; Case, $21.24
Red
2021 Barale Fratelli Langhe Nebbiolo was one of the most elegant and pure Piedmont Nebbiolos we have been offered at anywhere near its price. Floral and elegant, it is smooth and light on the palate, with good connection; Color: very light red; Aroma: light fresh very pretty, almost ethereally floral, delicate, and clean; Mouth: herb clean and direct, light and high toned in flavor with a clean acid line from beginning to long finish, precise and pretty; Very Good – Excellent for poise $20.99; Case, $17.84
2021 Chiara Condello Sangiovese di Predappio;
This vintage continued the qualities that have made Chiara’s sangiovese a favorite for those who have tasted it. It was hearty, and savory in a way that Tuscan versions rarely are It was the most ordered red of the tasting.

2016 Gimonda Chianti Buscheto;
Mature Chianti, solid, substantial and direct, hand-hewn and it showed it, along with the beginnings of mature notes that combined with a smooth palate to make a very drinkable Chianti.

Fizzy Rose
The 2022 Cantina Annesanti Raspato Delicious rasp-strawberry fruit got contras from interesting herbal and mineral backnotes that added contrast to its delicious s, It was good but seems to have been too natural for most of last week’s tasters. Lovers of petnat will discover one with a whole new dimension.
Color: cloudy red orange; Mouth: fizzy, earthy a rich sweet fruit, over low earthy fizz, lower toned, long finish; Very Good $26.99; Case, $22.94
