This Week's Tasting
Delicious Portuguese Bargains
April 26, 2017Peter writes, "Over the years Portuguese wines were always tossed into the “value” category. The only problem is that, at first some of what was being offered was simply not very good. Two things have changed..." (Continue reading)

2014 and 2015 Bellene Burgundies - April 4thSome very good wines last week. A few stood out. We have some at special net prices which are good until the end of this week. The wines, what we said, what the tasters thought
Character and Precision from Southern France - March 29thWe decanted all but the Cotes du Rhone two hours before the tasting, to have them be at optimal drinking. With the spice of a Rhone and the breadth and depth of a Napa Cabernet, the 2014 Ch. Virgile Costieres de Nimes Cuvee l'Eneide proved the most satisfying to the majority of tasters, especially at its $20 price. The wines, what we said, what the tasters thought
The Adventures and Joys of Blending - March 22ndA surprise emerged in the tasting. The most popular wine was the decidedly untraditional 2016 Teutonic Willamette White "Pig & Swords" a white wine based on Pinot Noir. Most tasters found a sweetness in it that I had not noted, but one that was nicely balanced with acidity. It sold out at the tasting. We have gotten more in. The wines, what we said, what the tasters thought
Mucci Imports With Stefan and Linda Vaja - March 15thPeter writes, "Last week we drifted around Italy with a bit of concentration on Alto Adige. Stefan and Linda Vaja who own Glassier winery near Bolzano were here to show some of their wines along with their importer Nick Mucci. To fill out the fare, Nick chose three other wines." The wines, what we said, what the tasters thought
