Return Of Two Classics

2016 Castello di Ama Rosato and 2014 Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc Oncle Vincent
May 12, 2017

Peter writes,

The 2016 Castello di Ama Rosato has just arrived. The wine smells and tastes like Castello di Ama in the spring. Think olive blossoms, fresh strawberries, cherries and mineral earth all in beautiful, sunny balance. This is an estate of the highest pedigree in Tuscany and this Rose of Sangiovese is a very special wine.

2016 Castello di Ama RosatoVery Good to Excellent  21.99/bottle; case $225

True to French rules the label says Bourgogne, but your palate will say Puligny. The grapes for Olivier Leflaive's come from two parcels in Puligny that are too far down the slope to be entitled to be called Puligny. In the superb 2014 vintage, this wine has the classic Puligny keenness with a slightly lighter weight than many wines labeld Puligny. It has its character at half the price.

We thought we had sold all there was but are getting a few cases more tomorrow. Don't miss it. A Federal Wine exclusive.

2014 Domaine Olivier Oncle Vincent Bourgogne Blanc; Aroma: Head rather dense, spicy acid full,  rich; Mouth: Juicy tight clean firm, racy acid very clean delineated and refined; Very Good Plus 29.99; Mixed Case, 26.99; Case, 25.49
