Gold Stars From Verona

Allegrini Villa della Torre

Allegrini Villa della Torre - Nice Place to Stay

Two of the wines that knocked me out on my latest trip to Verona were both from Allegrini. The single vineyard 2013 Allegrini La Grola has the class, structure and staying power of a premier cru Burgundy. The 2013 Allegrini Amarone is absolutely a model for other producers to emulate. The wine is rich and concentrated with clear, clean delineation and subtle power.

Marilisa Allegrini and I had a conversation at breakfast about her efforts and those of other producers in Verona to introduce more Americans to these wines. I am heartily in favor of this. As a group, the Veronese wines from quality producers are more than worthy of our attention. The two in this offer are always among the very best.

The wines will be in this week.

2013 Allegrini La Grola:  Deep ruby red. Aromas dominated by red fruits, balsa and spice. Full flavored with balance and structure that all comes together in a fabulous finish.  Excellent  32/bottle  173/six pack  326/case

2013 Allegrini Amarone:  Deep ruby red. Spices, black cherry and notes of fig. Rich and concentrated with mature fruit, cinnamon and nutmeg. Amazing length and complexity.  Outstanding  85/bottle  459/six pack  867/case

Special mixed case: Six bottles of each of the above for a special price of $596
