Notable, Really not Much of It
2001 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Monfortino
We Found Some

Peter writes,
We could spend paragraphs copying the praise given the wines of Giacomo Conterno through the years. We could also mention that among producers of Barolo, Giacomo Conterno holds the same place of pride as DRC does in Burgundy.
The Monfortino is the more famous of his two Barolos. It stands as the reserve wine of the estate, very limited in production, and sought the world over. The 2001 Giacomo Conterno Monfortino is a stunning example of the greatness of this wine. It is complete, brooding and rich and would be best enjoyed starting at about fifteen years of age. Twelve bottles available.

Antonio Galloni wrote in the Wine Advocate:
“This is a towering, majestic Monfortino that will rightfully take its place among the very finest Monfortinos ever made. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2041.”
